Event Horizon Capital is built on the experience and analytic skill of its Principals. Harry Hummel has years of experience as a data scientist, equities analyst and portfolio manager. Laura Hutner ran the retail investment management business for New England Life.

The Principals have been married for over 30 years.

Harry Hummel, Principal

Harry is the founder and a Principal of Event Horizon Capital.

Harry has 30 years experience solving sophisticated problems in various settings. He developed the trading strategies and software used in market forecasts, and manages all client portfolios.

Previously, he was a research analyst for the long/short equities hedge fund at AllianceBernstein. He was a Senior Vice President at Bank of America and MBNA, and a Principal at Insight Venture Partners. He was co-founder and CEO of Component Sofware, which developed extensions for SAP systems. He started his career as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Co.

Harry has an A.M. and Ph.D. in Chemical Physics from Harvard and a B.S. in Geology & Geophysics from Yale. He is also a CFA charterholder.

Laura Hutner, Principal

Laura is a Principal of Event Horizon Capital, where she is responsible for developing and sustaining client relationships.

She has a track record of building financial products sales and marketing organizations through managing lasting relationships. Before joining Event Horizon, she offered communications and business development consulting services. As Senior Vice President at New England Securities and Vice President at MetLife, she managed a national field sales network of 3500 registered representatives, raising $3 billion in assets. She raised capital for retail investment programs for Copley Real Estate Advisors, (now AEW Capital), and Mutual Benefit Financial Service Company.

Laura earned a BA cum laude in American Studies from Yale.
